PTH raid crew

So here is our 10 men crew : We do quite well and have some achievements under our cap.

Brusan : Glead Warlock.
Gaselle : Officer Arc Mage.
Vamprilla : Raider Shadow Holy priest.
Divynne : Raider Holy pally.
Sli : Raider Rogue.
Zombrie : Raider Holy priest.
Nubrules : Officer DK DPS.
Calcifur : Not in guild YET Holy pally. I want you Calc.
Orcal : Officer Tank,Holy,Ret pally.
Squeeker : Raider Tank warrior.

We have regular sub that comes when needed : Thanks to them

Quietone : Raider Druid boomkin Heal Tank.
Majutsushi : Raider Mage Fire.
Halle : New Dk that comes pretty often awesome dps wish he would be in guild.
Boutch : Druid tank not in guild.

We are 10/14 on Ulduar 10 men.

We have Flame +2 tower achievement (1st server)
We have the Make a quick work of him on Razorscale.
We made XT no scrapbot achievement.
We made Kologarn 2 hands and body in 10 sec achievement :)
We made Hodir frost aura Achievement ( I am so proud of this one)

We have others but those are the major ones.

And on a final notes : FU Mirmiron.

A nite in PTH raid (03-06-2009)

So yesterday nite was supposed to be our second nite in Ulduar 10.

But you know what we did had Wintergrasp (On durotan Horde side it doesnt happen often :)

So we said ok lets hit Esmalon for a free two badges and some crazy free loot. We had 13 in guild at this time so pug 12 ppl (i hate pugging honestly). We went there, that was my first time tanking the adds since i usually heal the thing. And i did bad on first try. Got an add loose and it was the one Esmalon empowered, and sadly he blowed and wipe the raid. I was feeling damn bad about it.

Second try i focused the raid leader, and he would target the add if i get one loose, and you know what we breeze trought it. 2 Emblems (T8.5 shadow priest leg and 3 pieces of pvp druid gear) yeah with one druid in raid we were damn pissed (guess what he was damn happy). For the kick of it we did Archavon (Free old loot and badges) He went down pretty fast with little work.

We did so well we asked if the pugged ppl would hit ulduar 25 with us rigth away. (pug ppl are so happy about raiding Ulduar 25 that they all say yes ) So after getting some more from guild to remplace the pug leaving, we hit UD25. Was pretty slow pace we got Leviathan 1 tower up on second try (First pull was a damn mess with some vehicule outside boss zone :( )
2 others emblems from here. No orb No pattern... i will finish by think they does not exist. (Dps str ring droped. Totem for shammy. And a clothy thing tat i dont recall but for dps).

We did well on that so we jumped to XT since he is no that hard. With 12 pug ppl he is not fun but after a couples try we downed him for another emblem and (shammy totem again, Wand for clothy and dps leather). We had 1h20 left on our raid time so we went to Razorscale, and the pain started here.... We wiped numerous time on first phase cause of add control, and after 30 minutes we had ppl leaving so we called it for the nite.

That was 5 badges some new loots for people and a lots of fun in vent. We are going back tonite so you guys will get news tomorrow.

Emblem Of Conquest (Everything about them)

Those are the new Emblem from Ulduar. You get them from Ulduar 10 hard mode and from Ulduar 25 normal and hard mode.

Easiest way to collect some each week if you are not in a raiding guild is to do :



  • Esmalon 25 men (2 emblems) this guy is really easy, and you will find lots of pug for him.
  • Ulduar 10 Flame Leviathan Hard Mode (at least one tower up) (2 emblems)
  • Ulduar 25 Flame Leviathan Hard Mode (at least one tower up) (2 emblems)

Those 3 are really easy even for a pug and that willl net you 6 emblems per weeks, item you can purchase with those emblems are ilvl 226 and come in differents flavor : I will not list pvp gear since i hate pvp :) Going with those 6 only the earliest you can buy something is week 4 and the more costly pieces would take you 10 weeks.

For the hardocre raiders clearing everything you have the possibility to get : 14 emblems from Normal 25 men Ulduar (+8 for all hard modes) and you can get up to 8 emblems in Ulduar 10 Hard mode. Total Max = 30 emblems per week.

Ulduar Boss Strategy : Razorscale

Taken from Protest The Hero website were i wrote it for members.

RAZORSCALE (2nd Ulduar Boss)

Razorscale is a two phase boss with very little variable.
He have 12.5 Millions HP in 25 men and 3.9 million in 10 men.
There is no hard mode for that figth, and with last week nerf it's kinda a joke ... At least on 10 men.

There is a lot of movement involved in that figth : Add grabbing for the tank, and avoiding for the dps and the healers.

he have an air phase and a ground phase.

Boss ability's

When he is on the air : PHASE 1
During that phase you CANT dps the boss.

1) Devouring flame : spit a firebomb at one target on the ground dealing around 5k in normal and then leave a blue fire AoE on the ground ticking for 2000dps. (So get out of blue fire). On 25 men initial is 8k and AoE ticking for 4k dps. Damage was nerfed this week. THIS ABILITY IS ALWAYS USED ON THE PERSON THE CLOSEST TO THE BOSS, so just put an aware range dps that know how to move fast in middle of the circle to avoid tank and healer to become targeted.

2) Fireball : spit a fireball at one target dealing around 5k in normal and around 8k in 25 men.

During that phase there will be Add spawning from big Tunneller Transporter ( You cant miss them). there is 3 kind of adds :

- Big Iron Vrykul : Those are melee nasty bastard doing WW. they need to be downed fast. they were nerfed on last patch less damage less often doing WW. Pre nerf they were hitting for 16k on plate tank every second for 4 second while doing WW. (Was painfull on 25 men)
They are hitting for way less on 10 men.

-Medium iron Dwarf : Those are the caster type doing chain lighting. You can CC them and silence them they need to be downed fast too.

-Little iron dwarf : those are melee meat just grab them and let them die to the AoE of your party of just dps them last. They have nothing special.

There is NPC working on repairing the Turret to bring Razorscale down on the ground. 2 turrets needed to bring him down on 10 men and 4 needed to bring him down on 25 men. Once he is on ground phase 2 start.

When he is on ground : PHASE 2 part 1

When he is grounded no more add spawn for the duration of the phase, that is really quick 30 sec or so. During that phase EVERYONE DPS THE BOSS. Pop BL use wings use trinkets. Everything you can do. Try to down him to 75%. Healer can dps a bit as well as OT.

When he is grounded you need one tank on him, and one OT who will keep the non killed adds from phase 1, but will still dps the boss (get a pally to do that ). When the 30 sec are expired he will do flame breath followed by wingbuffet and go to fly phase again until you down him to 50% then its start phase 2 part 2.

Ability's when grounded :

Flame breath : Dealing around 15k in normal and around 25k on 25 men in a frontal cone. Anyone else than a tank getting hit by this should be Raid kicked

Wingbuffet : Mass AoE knockback 35 yards radius range should be able to outrange this to maximize DPS.

When the boss reach 50% this should happen on second or third ground phase he wont fly anymore then start the last 50% where its a tank and spank figth :

Grounded PHASE 2 part 2

Boss gain a few ability once he reach 50% he still use the flame breath and Devouring flame , but he wont cast fireball anymore, New spell are :

Flame buffet debuff : Boss put this debuff on someone in the raid, it makes you take 1000 additional fire damage and stack to 99 stack.(1500 damage in 25 men) This must be dispelled. (99k additional fire damage seems bad)

Tank debuff (dont recall the name) : He is gonna debuff the MT with a debuff making the tank move 10% slower. when it reach 10 stack the tank become stun for 20 sec and loose all aggro on boss. That's y you need to tank swap every 5 stacks.

During that phase dont forget to tank swap every 5 stack, dont forget to keep avoiding the Devouring flame and dps the hell out of him. If you reach that phase with all your raid alive, it's GG.

Who is Orcal ...

So Orcal is my pally. Level 80 Blood Elf Male.

I am focused on 10 men Ulduar atm with Protest The Hero crew.
I was Main healer until last few weeks where i became one of our tank.
I also Dps figth like Mirmiron where only one tank is needed.

Stats : Prot Pally raid buffed (29% dodge, 18% parry, 27% dodge) 39k hp. On tank set im mostly Ulduar 10 geared with some naxx 25 and one naxx 10 item.

Holy pally raid buffed (40% Holy crit, 27k Mana, 15% haste) Healer set is Ulduar 10 and Naxx 25 exclusively.

Ret pally raid buffed (5k ap,40% crit) Pulling between 3.5 and 4k depending figths.

This char is my Main char since WOTLK. And god i love pally.

Ulduar Boss Strategy : Flame Leviathan

This is taken from Protest The Hero website, where i wrote it to my guildmate.


Flame Leviathan (First boss of Ulduar). This mechanical boss have 25 Million hp in 10 Men and 71.5 Million in 25 Men. It is possible to activate an hard mode version of this encounter by leaving tower up in the trash before the Boss. Doing so increase his HP by 50% by tower left and give him new ability's during the encounter (Cover in last section of that Guide). *** For this encounter player should be wearing the best ilvl item they can for all slots. Item ilvl goes as follow : Ulduar 25 > Sart hard mode > Maly 25 > sart 25> Ulduar 10 > Naxx 25 > Naxx 10 = sart 10 > ur not geared for ulduar.

*** Boss Ability's :

Flame jets : Casted ability that does 2k/dps around the boss for 10 sec. (Should be interupted by siege engine driver).

Melee : By experience in the last 3 weeks when Leviathan reach you in melee range he deals about 150 to 200k damage to your vehicule (Demolisher). It's why you kite him all figth long.

Turrets : There is 4 turrets on the boss (only 2 in 10 men) that shoot missiles all over the place at all the vehicules. doing 2k damage. Those turrets need to be destroy by Demolisher passenger once they are launched on the boss. When the 4 of them are Down it will cause overload.

Overload : This is a debuff on boss when the 4 turrets are defeated (2 in 10 men), it will cause boss to be stunned for 10 sec and during that time he will take 50% more damage from all sources. This overload will reset his speed buff. Speed buff : Each time he chance target, the boss his gaining a speed buff that is stacking granting him 5% more speed for each buff on him.

The 3 Vehicules you can use :

Siege Engine (Tank)
Demolisher (Dps)
Chopper (Utility).

A) The siege engine : There is a driver in those and a passenger. Driver ability : Ram : Deals damage (14 to 17k in normal) and push back enemy, it also damage buildings. Electroshock : It's a casting interupt ability that deals damage (8k in normal). This ability need to be used on the boss when he is casting Flame jets. Steam rush : It's like the sprint form a rogue. This ability need to be used when the boss is pursuing you. Shield: Ability to shield your Siege engine when you have the boss rigth behind you on melee range.
Passenger ability : Anti air rocket : need to be used on the flying mob to get pyrite down. (this is really important). Cannon : To be used most of the time on boss when not on Anti air duty.

B) Demolisher : Drivers and Passengers. Driver's abilitys : Hurl Boulder : trow a boulder at the boss doing 14 to 16k damage aoe 8 yards. Hurl pyrite : trow pyrite doing 27 to 33k damage aoe 8 yards ( When this is trow at the boss during an overload will do between 100k to 200k and stack a Dot on him that will tick for near 100k ). You can trow 10 of those before running out of ammo (pyrite). Ram : Same as Siege engine a bit less damage ( I never used it in 3 weeks of doing Demo driver hard mode). Launch passenger : This ability trow ur passenger on the boss. Passengers ability : Cannon : Fire at target exploding after it travel 50 yards aor damage in 10 yards radius. Grab crate : Ability to grab blue pyrate crate on the ground (You need to target the crate on the ground for this to work. Each crate you are grabbing will reload 50% of your pyrite reserve when u use reload. Reload : obviously reload cartdrige. Increase speed : will burst ur spedd by 100% for some time. Should only be used if Boss is pursuing you and you for sure are not able to get out without. (Usually you should not use it) It will consume almost all your pyrite. Laod into catapult : Will load you in Cannon to be trow at boss by your driver.

C) Chopper : Drivers only. Sonic Horn : damge in front of the chopper for 3500 to 4000 damage Tar : Drop a pull of tar just behind the chopper. It will slow enemy that enter the tar zone, and it can be lightened to do damage to enemy entering tar zone. Speed Boost : bosst the chopper 100% speed increase for 5 sec. Gheal : ability to be used by chopper on player that are directly on the boss, healing them for a nice amount.

GENERAL STRATEGY PHASE 1 : The boss will be pulled by one of the siege engine. The Chopper should be making a trail of tar in front of the boss making a path that will slow him. This tar path need to be lite up by demolisher driver with hurl boulder. Everyone at that stage of the figth should be dpsing the boss. Two thing need to be made during that time : 1) The siege engine not being chased by the boss should be interupting the Flame jets. 2) Chopper need to put tar on ground and it need to be lited up. Every 20 sec he will change target and gain a speed buff. When he reach 4 or 5 speed buff you cans tart the next phase.

PHASE 2 : Demolisher passenger need to be loaded and trow at boss (2 ppl in normal, 4 ppl in heroic). Those ppl need to destroy the turrets and need to be healed by chopper. The ppl on the boss need to call overload : When they do call overload all Demolisher drivers should be shooting there ten pyrite boulder at the boss, that will do massive amount of damage and stack a dot that do insane damage too. This will also reset the Sped buff on the boss that ill be near 7 or 8 stack (40% speed increase start to be dangerous). At the same time when overload is called the chopper need to pick up the two demo passenger (they will get trow on ground by the boss) and once picked up they ned to get bring back to there demolisher. Demolisher passenger need to pick up two pyrite to full the reserve of the demolisher. Once both of the demolisher are full restart phase 2. By doing this strategy we are able to down him hard mode on both 10 and 25 men.

HARD MODE Each tower left up will trigger hard mode, this should be decided by the raid leader and will need ppl to be more aware while doing the boss figth. Each tower will net him 50% more hp and one special ability. Here is the breakdown of the ability's :

Tower of Storms: Thorim’s Hammer - Deals 15000 Stormstrike damage to all nearby enemies. This will trigger blue pillar all over the boss zone, ppl need to avoid them at all cost, they are doing 15k dps and then blow for around 200k after a few second on a small AoE.

Tower of Flames: Mimiron’s Inferno - Deals 15000 Fire damage to all nearby enemies and leaves a flaming blaze behind. When he cast mimiron inferno he will do an Aoe around hi doing 15k damage and then leaves a trail of fire behind his path. Crossing the fire trail wil net you 15k damage per second u stay in fire it takes a good 3 to 4 second to get through so you are just better to avoid them.

Tower of Frost: Hodir’s Fury - Deals 15000 Frost damage to all nearby enemies, entombing them in ice. Not tested yet will implement once we have done it.

Tower of Nature: Freya’s Ward - Deals 15000 Nature damage to all nearby enemies and summons guardians of nature to assist. Not tested yet will implement once we have done it. Trigering the hard mode on 10 men wil net you 2 emblem of conquest. Same thing for one tower up on 25 men. On normal mode u get one emblem of Valor in 10 men and one emblem of conquest in 25 men.


New strat for Demolisher : on 10 men you only trow one person to Overload him and the other one is stacking pyrite to 10 and then just keep 10 stack up all fight long (did 180k dps last nite on 10 men) on 25 men just trow 3 and keep two demo running pyrite (we did 160k and 180k respectively on 25 men)

The ret pally

Hi ppl

Here is the Ret paladin :

Ret pally is like really easy to play but fun as hell

First thing u need and should really want is HIT CAPPED so this mean get 269 hit rating ASAP no excuses nothing It's your first priority.

Then you gear for STR > Crit > All the rest.

Ret pally use no real cycle they do a kinda Priority ability to use :

CS > Judgement > Divine Storm > Concecrate > Exorcism.
With hammer of wrath coming rigth after judgement when u can use it.

As for the real only ret pally seal : Seal of Blood, it will kill command on every single situation in term of dps. And dont tell me '' But in Loatheb figth i cant use it '' This is not true, with good healer u can do it and should do it.

Hit capped and raid buffed an average pally will put a minimum of 3k+ dps. (ilvl 200 item equipped obviously)

Holy pally : IMO

Hey guys, so before 4 weeks ago i was the main healer of my guild, Healed from dust to Heroic Maly without anything to worry about (Finishsing Boss figth at 100% mana is bad). Now the four first week of Ulduar i was still main healing until we lost one of our tank and i switched.

Healing as a pally nowadays : Stats wise :
  1. Intellect : it's by far the best stats for us. Stack it, Loves it. For Ulduar 10 i recommend not less than 21k mana pool. And 24k for Ulduar 25. Those are rougth numbers, but when you need to spam the MT on razorscale phase 2 and on XT002 you need mana ... lots of it :)

  2. Crit and haste : They are needed in Ulduar. You need t run at a minimum of 28% crit and 15% haste Unbuffed. Without the haste your tank will die without the crit you'll run oom.

  3. Mp5 : It comes on everything in Ulduar gear. It's a sub stats for us. You will have some on your gear, but never favorise mp5 stats allocation over other healer stats.

Gemming : this is like previously said, lots of pally are gemming intellect heavy (Like myself) and some use haste crit to balance stats a bit. Never gem mp5 or Spirit.

Gear : We are plate wearer. But in Ulduar some mail are perfectly itemized for us. (SP,Int,Crit,Haste) so use what you can get that fits best your need. On a second note, there is still some slot where BIS comes from Naxx25 sadly : Poignant sabaton and Voice of reason are two of them.

Spel Rotation : We dont have a specific rotation to heal, but there is some important thing to do to optimize your Hps.



  1. Judge every minutes to get your haste buff.

  2. Use your Beacon (there is always a use to it on boss figth) if your not sure you'll avoid damage and are not confident about your health, use the beacon on you. That way you and the tank will never die. At least you wont die... for the tank its not sure :)

  3. Always judge ligth on boss for the debuff to never fall (that will add to your healing quite a bit) example : I was Main Tanking XT25 yesterday and finished 5th in healing with 1200 hps (that was all from judgement of ligth Haha :). If you are really screwed on mana judge wisdom.

  4. Holy shock is not Useless. Lots of pally are not using it and this is bad. Holy shock is powerfull. Crit for 10k in 25 men give an instant FoL or a damn fast HL. That can save someone. Usually netting me 40k healing in a 3 sec window. HL land for 20k i Shock for 10k then HL for another 15 to 20k. With beacon thats 80k healing in 3 sec.

Ulduar Tanking

Hi everyone, here we goes with the first post about pally tanking in Ulduar.

There is a big difference between Naxx 25 and Ulduar 10 and 25 tanking.
We are now getting some mega-hit by most of the bosses (25k hit) are now more than common.

Here goes a list of bosses with some characteristics and hints about tanking them as a pally.

  • Flame Leviathan : No real tank, wear your best Ilvl items (boost you vehicule stats) and have fun. This guy is free loot with one tower up its always two emblems of conquests.

  • Razorscale : Since he got nerfed to dust in one of the patch, its now a kinda free loot in both 10 and 25 men. Just avoid the flame on the ground and kill the big vykrul add first. On phase 2 call who is tanking and dont forget to swap after some debuffs.

  • Ignis : Ignis you got one of the two role MT or Add tank but honestly you should be add tank in block gear to make it trivial. Get your max zoom out to spot the add as soon as they spawn, when they get 10 debuff in the fire you need to retaunt them to bring them to the water to get killed.

  • XT002 : Then again you have two choice MT or Add tank. As a MT you do nothing (Meatshield boss). As add tank you get the big adds on heart phase and just tank them until the boss die.

  • Iron council : Iron council is a fun figth for the tanks, you can be tanking Steelbreaker, he hits hard and you can cleanse yourself every Fusion punch(and oviously you dont have the choice of not doing it) You can tank Molgreim, again meatshield and help cleansing if the other tank is not a pally. Be sure that the boss is never on a rune of power (30k+ hit from steelbreaker is bad). The last little boss is tanked by a rogue or dk in our run with a healer healing him in between heal on tanks.

  • Kologarn : since the last nerf you dont need to tank swap anymore, so if you MT stay on him (dont click one of the arm it can bug and activate breath : that will wipe the raid) if your on add duty just gather them far from melee since they explode. It's a pretty easy figth. Oh yeah if you get add tanking be sure to move if he targets you with eyes.

  • Auriaya : MT you tank her, be sure she faces everyone and yell for healing :) Add tank you gather the little panther and you tank them, they need to die fast and then it becomes free loot boss.

  • Thorim : another fun figth. Tunnel group tank, watch out for the fire explosion (look at the arm that glow with fire at end of tunnel in front of you). MT in arena will be tanking lots of Adds A DAMN LOTS OF THEM :) Phase 2 just tank swap every debuff to avoid getting crit.

  • Hodir : 10 men version, I solo tank in frost resist gear with frost aura. Move on top of snow mound when needed, avoid icicle and stay near beam to buff your friends dps :) The only thing that can wipe you is ppl not moving and dying from aura of frost damage, or ppl getting pawned by icycle.

  • Freya : 4 badges for this :) Freya is more complex need ajustment on first phase depending of what adds you get. Little exploding ones you gather them in middle everyone fall on you dps to 10 % then stun them or nova and get out then area them to death with no one in range. The big one get under the mushroom and dps it fast. The other 3 need to be killed at same time, so split your dps (dont tank snaplasher that is a bad idea). on phase 2 moove out of the little green bomb. During all that figth when a tree spawn kil it fast.

  • Mirmiron : We are stuck here since way to long , ill be updating as soon as we down him, we are hitting less than 25% on phase 4 but damn its an hard figth.
